Summit Youth Academy

The Summit is an in-depth experience for high school juniors and seniors who want to discover how God is calling them to use their gifts in the world.

Summit Disciples gather for one week to learn about (and focus on) hearing and responding to God’s call to a life with purpose and meaning. Each student takes the Birkman Assessment to identify potential career paths based on interests, gifts, passions, and their environmental needs for a thriving work experience. They serve others, and work with an adult from their home congregation to determine their next faithful steps for following God’s calling in their own community through service.

Along the way, we learn Wesleyan theology from experienced, well-respected UMC scholars. Our visiting scholars, Covenant Pastors, Summit Guides, and lay volunteers are all United Methodist — we are committed to solid UMC theology and practice!

Campus Ministry at Southwestern

Campus Ministry at Southwestern College is lived through many different programs and experiences, but the most notable is weekly Chapel, also known as Wednesday Worship!  With student-led music from our Worship Outreach teams, our chapel service offers a mid-week break from the grind of classes and activities to focus on the living Christ and share Him with fellow students, faculty, and staff. Sometimes students share, sometimes we invite pastors from the area to preach, sometimes faculty or staff speak, sometimes we listen to lay people share their testimonies, and sometimes we even let our campus minister preach.  🙂
