Choosing your core team
Now’s the time to put your team together!
Go back to the list you made earlier at this marker of probably “Supportive” or “Actively Supportive” people in your life, who you feel are likely to be supportive and open to having conversations with you about God’s call. Put a star next to the names of people you would like to talk to on this call discernment journey.
Action Item:
- Pick three people to start a conversation with about your call. It helps if these people are from different areas of your life. Try to spread your choices across different age groups. Obviously, all of these people should match the characteristics of good mentors and NOT match any of the red flags for people who don’t have your best interests in mind.
- Send a text or a note or have a quick conversation with the people you starred to ask for their support. This doesn’t have to be any more complicated than, “Hey, I’m working on figuring out what I’m going to do with my life. Could I talk with you sometime about that?”
If the person you approach worries about how to mentor you, tell them we have an online training that can help! They can go to www.timothycircle.com/mentor-training to learn more.
Now, quick, move on to the next part of this trail marker! We give you some ideas of what you can talk about when your 3 people respond to you.
